Salerno Winery is small family-owned boutique winery in the Ramona. After planting over 4 acres of vineyard, beginning in 1998, our first vintage was 2002. Our historic adobe ranch house overlooks the rolling hills of Ramona at elevations above 1,500 feet. Rich soils and a unique micro-climate yield premium grapes. Due to Ramona's special terroir this area has been recognized with its own AVA (appellation), Ramona Valley. This is a huge accomplishment for this area's up and coming wineries.
Herman Salerno, the proprietor, has been making wine for over 23 years, winning personal and professional awards in winemaking since 1988. He uses traditional hand-crafted methods to produce premium wines.
As a result of our determination and quest for excellence we earned an International Medal in 2005 immediately upon the release of our first wine. Thus, this winery achieved worldwide recognition immediately upon its first release. This was just the beginning!! We are pleased to announce that we have received 37 local, national and international awards!! These competitions are recognized by the Wine Institute as some of the best in the world. We are proud to be ranked with top wineries in the world. You could say that we are putting Ramona on the wine map.
At the moment, we offer red wines such as Petite Sirah, our signature wine and a double gold medal AND gold sweepstakes winner, Elegante, our fantastic red blend and medal winner, Cabernet Sauvignon, Barbera and Pinot Noir, our estate favorite. Our newest releases are Temptation, a port wine, Perfection, a "perfect" blend" and Lagrein, silk in a glass. Coming soon is a Merlot and a Ruby Cabernet. We also offer a white wine we call Bianco Tosto, a blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay. Our Muscat Canelli is a great dessert white wine.
Salerno Winery is original and famous for its family Mediterranean-style ambiance, its wood-fired pizza, and fabulous wines. We now offer tasting to the public.
Our wines are available at some of San Diego's finest restaurants, wine bars and markets including The Godfather Restaurant, Albertson's and Costco. We ship wine to most states.
